Gernot Rüter is a specialist in general medicine with chiropractic and palliative care. Practised as a general practitioner from 1980 to 2020, now retired, still active in the medical on-call service, for practice substitutions and as a mentor for the Baden-Württemberg competence-based further training programme. Many years as an academic lecturer at the University of Tübingen. Moderator of a GP quality and research circle for 3 decades. Scientific cooperation with chairs of general medicine and the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg. Research topics: Tumour patients in the GP practice, cooperation between GPs and GPs, care of patients with diabetes mellitus, many years of balint group work. Multiple lecturer for the Philosophica for physicians at the Universities of Würzburg and Freiburg.
